A general power of attorney covers a broad range of acts, while a special power of attorney is limited to a specific transaction, such as selling a given property. Many authorities and banks prefer a special power of attorney.

Can the power of attorney be bilingual?

Yes. A bilingual English–French (or other language) version often avoids a separate translation and is easier for the notary and the receiving authority.
