Consular legalisation (attestation) for countries outside the Apostille Convention, such as the UAE or Qatar.
Countries that are not party to the Apostille Convention – such as the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and several others – require consular legalisation, sometimes called attestation. The document is first authenticated in Mauritius, then legalised by the embassy or consulate of the destination country, which may be based in Mauritius or accredited from another country.

What is the difference between an apostille and a legalisation?
An apostille is a single certificate valid between member countries of the Hague Convention. Consular legalisation is a chain of certifications ending with the embassy of the destination country, used for countries outside the Convention.
How long does embassy legalisation take?
It depends mainly on the embassy: from a few days to several weeks when the embassy is accredited from abroad. We give you a realistic timeline in the quote.
Do I need to be present?
Usually not. We act on your behalf with an authorisation letter and a copy of your ID. If an embassy requires your presence, we tell you in advance.
