Frequently asked questions
Which documents can be apostilled in Mauritius?
Public documents issued in Mauritius: civil status certificates, court documents, Certificates of Character, notarial deeds, company documents and educational documents once they have been verified. Private documents can often be apostilled after certification by a notary. We check each document before submitting it.
My destination country is not part of the Apostille Convention. What now?
The document then needs consular legalisation instead of an apostille: authentication in Mauritius followed by the embassy or consulate of the destination country. We handle both procedures.
I live abroad. Can you get an apostille for me?
Yes. You can send us the original by courier, or we obtain a fresh copy of the document in Mauritius where possible, have it apostilled and send it to you.
Does the translation also need an apostille?
It depends on the destination: some countries only want the apostille on the original, others require the translation to be certified, sworn or apostilled too. We confirm this before starting.
